Thursday, October 28, 2021 marked a historical day for The Arc, Ocean County Chapter. The Bill Burke Wellness Center officially opened for participants of The Arc to enjoy fun, friendship and fitness!
In memory of the late Bill Burke, a past resident and participant of The Arc and avid sports fan and athlete, the Burke family pledged to keep Bill's legacy alive through the Bill Burke Wellness Center. This multi-purpose gymnasium located in Lakewood, NJ will encourage health and wellness for people with disabilities, providing fitness classes, competitive sports, and recreational activities.
On October 28th friends, family and community members gathered to honor Bill with speeches from Executive Director Laura Williams and John Burke, memorial videos, a tour of the adult training center and a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening the wellness center.
The Burke family extends their gratitude and appreciation to the donors of the Bill Burke Memorial Fund and is excited for The Arc participants to stay active and healthy in their new wellness center.
