It’s incredible to recognize the Bill Burke Wellness Center’s 5th Anniversary this year, and the remarkable progress we have accomplished with the vision for fun, fitness, and friendship in memory of Bill and all he loved at The Arc.
Today, we host our Saturday Recreation programs, Friday Night dances, Bingo, and Karaoke at the BBWC, practices for our Special Olympics Wave Riders teams including basketball and volleyball, and Adaptive Fitness classes for day programs. Hundreds of individuals with disabilities at The Arc have benefited from the Bill Burke Memorial Fund.
"The Burke Family is so grateful to The Arc, Ocean County Chapter, for the opportunity to keep alive the light and spirit that our brother Bill brought to us all. Bill was an accomplished athlete and party lover. Having a facility that promotes his values in a way that adds to the enjoyment of his friends and colleagues in The Arc community is a wonderful legacy. The joy experienced by the individuals at the BBWC events, and the pride felt by their parents, make this endeavor so extremely gratifying for us. So much has been accomplished in these past five years. And true to form, The Arc is building on its success to plan and expand the services and facilities that will further promote physical and emotional wellness, so critical to the quality of life of the community.
