The first harvest of the vocational program's Aquaponics Garden has arrived! Participants have been working hard to grow fresh, healthy produce this spring. The Journeys and Discovery program harvested the lettuce from the garden with help from Drop the Beet Farms.
The Aquaponics Garden was purchased and installed with donations from The Arc, Ocean County Chapter's 2025 Annual Appeal as well as grants from the H. Hovnanian Family Foundation, TJX Foundation, Belmar First Aid Squad, Amboy Bank Foundation, and BlueClaws Charities. The garden offers a unique perspective on the living food ecosystem to participants with disabilities who will continue to harvest, package, and distribute the produce all year long.
The benefits of the garden continue with healthy and nutritious meals for The Arc’s residents at home, an abundance of lettuce for The Arc’s healthy cooking classes, and the chance to give back to our devoted community partners where we volunteer.
