The Arc, Ocean County Chapter hosted the 24th Annual Step Up for The Walk at ShoreTown Ballpark – home of the Jersey Shore BlueClaws in Lakewood – and raised over $92,000 for the chapter and our programs.
The beloved community event brought together all of our residential and vocational programs and families, friends, and community supporters for a day that was jam-packed with fun, inclusion, and meaningful impact.
Event-goers were able to experience fun activities throughout the concourse. The day featured arts and crafts, carnival games and prizes and more activities that were welcoming, accessible, and fun for all ages and abilities. Light refreshments were available before lunch.
Before the walk, Miss New Jersey, the BlueClaw’s mascot Buster, StarWars characters, and a surprise inflatable dinosaur walked the concourse to take photos with all in attendance.
The Celebration Ceremony included speeches from Laura Williams, Executive Director at The Arc, Ocean County Chapter, Celine Fortin, Executive Director at The Arc of New Jersey, and Board Member Ruth Churchill, with a warm up video helping everyone get loose and limber from Coach Monica with Monster Fitness.
The 1-mile walk began at a balloon arch, where the Brick Township High School Marching Band kicked off the procession and led the participants around the concourse of the ballpark.
After crossing the finishing line, the celebration continued on with lunch catered by Jersey Mike’s Subs donated by team Be Best You and Rita’s Italian ice compliments of CedarCom.
More than just a walk, Step Up for The Arc is a powerful fundraiser that directly benefits the individuals we support. Funds raised help purchase wish list items such as art supplies, outdoor furniture, and community outings, helping to enhance daily life across our programs.
