At The Arc, Ocean County Chapter, winter is about more than cold weather ... it’s about comfort, connection, and celebrating the moments that matter most.
We recently interviewed residents and participants to ask what makes winter so wonderful for them, and their answers were filled with warmth.
From sweet seasonal treats like Santa-shaped Christmas cookies, carrot cake, hot chocolate, and peppermint white chocolate truffles, to enjoying hot cocoa with marshmallows during a winter storm, it’s clear that favorite winter flavors bring a lot of joy.
When it comes to winter activities, cozy and fun take center stage. Some enjoy staying inside, relaxing, and watching Christmas movies or doing puzzles when it’s cold outside.
Others stay active by playing sports like kickball, working out, or enjoying classic winter fun like snowball fights and caroling. Driving around neighborhoods to admire holiday lights, including trips to see the dazzling displays at PNC Bank Art Center, is another favorite way to soak in the season.
For many, winter holidays are all about togetherness. Christmas was a favorite for most, not because of the gifts, but because of the time spent with family and friends, visiting loved ones, attending parties, and creating memories.
These heartfelt reflections remind us that winter’s true magic lies in connection, joy, and feeling cozy with the people we care about most.
