The spirit of inclusion and community shone brightly on Saturday, May 17th, as The Arc, Ocean County Chapter, hosted its 23rd Annual Step Up for The Arc Walk and 5K Race at the Jersey Shore BlueClaws stadium.
With over 600 attendees, this year’s event broke records by raising an impressive $85,000 to support The Arc’s vital programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Executive Director Laura Williams expressed her joy over the turnout: “This is our most successful Step Up for The Arc ever. It’s wonderful to come together with The Arc family and friends for this fun, inclusive event. We couldn’t be more grateful for the support of Ocean County!”
Proceeds from the event will directly benefit The Arc’s residential, vocational, and family support services. Teams participating in the event are already putting the funds to good use: Lightning Laurel Oaks is planning a whale-watching excursion, Mon-Ster Wellness is gearing up for flag football season with new equipment, and the AEC team is investing in startup ventures to create job opportunities.
Step Up for The Arc continues to be more than just a race — it's a celebration of acceptance, empowerment, and community-driven impact.
