The Arc, Ocean County Chapter is proud to celebrate National Career Coach Day as a way to highlight our very own in-house career coaches we call Employment Specialists.
Employment Specialists help ensure that all individuals with disabilities feel supported during their job search knowing they have an advocate when speaking with employers, while allowing the client to take the lead and show initiative.
Our supportive Arc Ocean Employment Specialists are best known to help
- Organize and conduct a job search with a clear goal in mind
- Practice professional soft skills, like how to best communicate with employers
- Try out job samples in different environments to see which task suits them best
- Create a professional cover letter, resume, reference sheet, and thank you notes.
- Teach interview skills and how to best represent their strengths in mock interview scenarios to prepare for actual interviews and business meetings
Once hired our Arc Ocean Employment Specialists accompany a client to their orientation, meet with the employer, and help request any necessary accommodations with the eventual goal to slowly fade out the support so the client can graduate to work independently.
