Thanks to a grant from the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, The Arc, Ocean County Chapter Recreation department offered free virtual paint classes to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to further enhance our arts programs for the individuals we serve and the people of Ocean County.
50 registered participants received a free paint kit in the mail including paint, a canvas and brushes to follow a step-by-step ocean sunrise guided paint class on Zoom, led by Jasmine Wilker, an experienced art instructor, the Virtual Recreation activity leader and Development Associate.
The virtual paint classes provided an opportunity for participants with IDD to try something new while staying safe at home, express their creativity and inspire future artistic endeavors. A recorded paint tutorial is available on YouTube that invites the Ocean County community to paint their own ocean sunrise and add to our gallery.
