for people with intellectual

and developmental disabilities

Mission, History & Vision

Our MissionTo advocate, provide opportunities and supports necessary for all individuals with  developmental disabilities to be accepted and valued as citizens of the communities in which they choose to live, learn, work and play.

Our HistoryIn 1955 a group of parents came together for the common goal of securing services and programs for their children with developmental disabilities. Joining the national movement, The Arc of the United States, these families founded The Arc, Ocean County Chapter.    Today, we continue their work by improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, and helping to advocate for and support their rights to live in our community.

Our VisionIndividuals with developmental disabilities have access to support services and typical opportunities in their communities.
