The Arc Vocational Services Department provides job training, employment opportunities, and transportation to people with developmental disabilities with the goal of finding productive employment, increasing self-sufficiency and self esteem, and providing valuable resources to the community.

Vocational Services at The Arc, Ocean County Chapter offers a variety of training and employment opportunities through our Adult Training Centers, the Arc Employment Center, and Arc Industrial Services.  As a first step, a vocational evaluation is conducted to help identify individual strengths and skills.  Choices for employment are presented to the client so he/she can make decisions based on their profile and personal interests.

Our Adult Training Centers provide vocational training in a supportive environment. Emphasis is placed on acquiring life, social and work-related skills.  Individual Habilitation Plans are developed by each person by incorporating personal goals and individual strengths and requirements. 

The Arc Employment Center provides employment opportunities to maximize individual potential and teach appropriate work skills and behaviors.  Jobs including assembly, sorting, labeling, packaging, collating, tagging, folding, stuffing, and materials and supply handling are performed in the Arc owned facility.

Arc Industrial Services enclaves perform a variety of jobs in the community.  Supervised by a group leader, crews perform  machine auto-scrubbing, burnishing of floors, window washing and carpet cleaning.

Transportation is provided to and from all vocational service programs and opportunities.

 As a qualified vendor for the Division of Developmental Disabilities program Real Life Choices - The Arc, Ocean County Chapter can provide flexible vocational supports and services to students transitioning out of high school and adults looking for employment opportunities.  Using a dynamic approach we can customize schedules to include employment, volunteer opportunities, school, and recreation programs.
